Besom is a community-based project which provides help to people who are in need in our community, often at the request of Social Services. Many church members volunteer to help with house maintenance and decorating, befriending individuals and families and providing a range of good quality second-hand furniture and clothing.
The Community House, based in Langley Road, is a partnership with the local Community Association. It provides a range of contacts and support, particularly for those who are less comfortable with coming into a church building. A range of community education projects and befriending initiatives is carried on, led by our Co-ordinator of Evangelism and Community Projects.
Other community-based initiatives include the Parent and Toddler Group (Friday mornings), Men Together, (1st Thursday morning each month) and the monthly distribution of Challenge magazine. This enables us to make and maintain contact with a large number of people in the community.
In partnership with other churches in Ballynahinch, we also serve the young people in our community through The Edge youth initiative based in the centre of the town.
